I don’t understand how one can play out the late night phone call hypothetical and conclude, “I’d feel safer with Trump.” Post after post of “I’m in the real world, talking to swing voters, the Democrats have LOST it” and then burrowing into some fantasy where there’s a third electable option.

I get it. It’s a shitty system. I used to wish we could have a parliamentary one with meaningful coalitions, so an elected party could actually enact its platform, but the UK ruined that fantasy. It’s incremental work, and it has been for 225 imperfect, two-party years.

I think it’s just highly engaged Dem syndrome where if you’re surrounded by other highly engaged people and in an electoral space you mistakenly think they’re like a regular voter. (Also true of some media people so not suggesting there’s only one type of person who has this problem )
