all these guys drive themselves and assume that's what everyone does, even though you can look out the window and see 1000 people walking and 10 cars

That's why, huh. I was wondering if all the theaters were secretly owned by parking garages.

If they ever look out of the window, I'm pretty sure what they observe is "things slowing me down" rather than "people who might legitimately be choosing to walk somewhere"

I get the attitude in a city of 100K, but in NYC? They're always like that tho. A bunch of my older coworkers complain about all the tolls and paying for parking where I work in the DC area. I'm like you realize everyone under 35 in this office takes the Metro in right? Our employer pays for it ffs.

DC just got rid of plans to add bike lanes to upper Connecticut Avenue because the business owners are *convinced* that all their customers arrive in like, 20 cars.

wonder if big patrons are behind the private car population? (the only people they regularly deal with, try to get endowments from, etc.)

The thing that gets me is that, as a business you have really clear incentives to better understand your customers and they just don't

You’ll read quotes from them about how reducing parking will destroy business meanwhile there’s a dying shopping mall located 3 minutes away from where they currently are (some of the most expensive retail space in the city)

Yeah that’s the parking thing too it’s really “I park in front of my store and I want to keep doing that” has nothing to do w customers
