"What the report finds is that Biden held on to 94% of the people who said they would support him before the debate. For Trump, 86% of people who said they would support him before the debate said they would do so after the debate."

I think the guy I met was involved with the "emerging MIDI transcription software" she mentions, if that was the mid 90s I would have been about 12-14, so the specifics are somewhat hazy. I think he also had some "Rachmaninoff plays Rachmaninoff" - super cool

Assuming it hasn't happened multiple times, Iet the guy behind the original technology which took player piano reels and converted them to MIDI files 25 years ago in a small B&B

One of the funniest things skeumorphism has given us is a ubiquitous "save" image which encapsulates a physical media format that hasn't been manufactured for over a decade. GenZ: "then click the weird box thing to save. I don't know why" That and this still being a telephone ☎️

This. We already know Trump is not cognitively up to doing the job of POTUS. He didn't last time. Remember "executive time" & an inability to process information so profound his staff had to prepare "briefings" as single sheet bullet points. Then all this: his clear speech/communication decline.

It's almost like there's a view that things might work better under competent people who know what they're talking about rather than "my mate Mark who's been really solid at backing me, even back when I wasn't PM, give it to him, he deserves it"

This. Also people who claim to want to imitate/venerate Churchill need to look at his track record a /lot/ more closely. Not least: he switched parties twice, annoyed everyone and spent 10 years in the parliamentary dog-house before gaining support and becoming PM.

The correct wish is "hopefully the Tory party will splinter into at least two factions, none of which has a hope of winning any form of power for the next 25 years" but unfortunately that relies on Tories hating each other more than they crave power and influence.

I've been telling anyone who'll listen that the biggest change any 21st century UK government could make would be to rethink the seating arrangements in the House of Commons. In a world that's increasingly driven by optics, it would show everyone watching that compromise and negotiation is possible.
