I worry sometimes that my criticism of the NYT is written off as disgruntled former employee whining. Please listen when us former employees say that with a legacy like this, the shit there runs deep.
Right! I'm not disrguntled - my life has gotten consistently better since leaving NYT. I'm not jealous. I don't have sour grapes. I think they're an institution that is harmful to employees and even more dangerous to democracy and rule of law. If my issues were just a bad manager I wouldn't speak up

It’s wild how when you dig into the Times, they’re way less “the paper of record” and way more often “the paper of pompous wealthy blowhards,” especially when covering stories that deal with race and class. Like since their inception they’ve been this way
