Short answer is that depressed turnout is historically bad for democrats. I think for you and me much of what you’re saying is obviously true, but you and I are not the whole electorate, there are people who are animated by baser instincts.

Realistically though there are always native mobile features that are more appropriate in that context and don’t work well/at all in mobile, and UX is purposefully different. I’m with you in general though. Desktop should always be supported for most businesses.
