US disabled people receiving (or denied) Social Security benefits: Were you adversely affected at any step of the process by AI tools used by SSA in adjudications? I want to hear from you!
A lot of people here asking how you know; rather than trying to respond to you all individually, I'll note that a variety of algorithms (not necessarily 'AI,' whatever that means right now) are used at varying stages of the process, though none (currently to my knowledge) can make decisions.
If I recall correctly every single SSDI case that passes before an administrative law judge on appeal has been run through three AI protocols. The first two in the initial application round to check for duplicate documents and then there’s a data management system. During appeal though it’s put 1/2
I see others have already asked, but I just went through this process 2020-2022. I was never informed AI would have any bearing on my disability decision. How could I find this out? My friend who is homeless with me has been denied repeatedly but qualifies - is there a way we can find out for them??
How would anyone's claim be adversely affected by SSA's implementation of AI and how would they recognize if they were?
My understanding is SSA uses AI for three purposes 1) Prioritizing processing of cases likely to be approved. 2) Assisting with decision writing. 3) Duplicate record removal
