He had a wide open field at the debate to make a case for why Dobbs is a disaster and what will happen under trump. He couldn't. Full stop. He couldn't. Trump blathered on about states rights, and biden disappeared. And it won't be the last time.

Actually I think that's the way to 'debate' him. When the firehose starts, jot them down. Your turn, pick the most laughable that no one could believe... and ridicule it. Then the next, and next. Don't worry about the question. As they say in sport: play the man, not the ball. But Biden can't.

We haven't yet nominated a candidate, and Joe's debate performance makes it a valid question. He absolutely controls the future of the party and it's candidate, and the only way there's a new candidate is if he names a new ticket and they go forwards into the convention with his blessing. No one is making the case that it's just 'between two old men'. Total straw man argument. The valid question is who is the best nominee/ticket to beat him? He's not 2008, or even 2020 biden any more. It's a fact. Doesn't change your or my vote, but we're not all voters, and we need them all.

The other thing there's no doubt about is that now that Joe opened the door, they're going to keep it open and hope he does it again... and over 5 months, he most likely will. It's not about my vote or your vote; they're solid. Unless women vote EN MASSE, it's all on the margins...

No one doubts your vote, but there are (crazy, but true) still enough people sitting on fence posts, not voting for them like you and I, who we need to win this election. And like you, no one is sure Joe will lose or if another ticket will win. However, that he lost votes at the debate, no doubt.

It's also not irrational to believe that Trumpworld would much rather face Biden than a new, strong, young team that can actually deal with his firehose of lies when that happens. Roe is the key, so Whitmer or Harris must be aboard. Harris scares me as top of ticket. I love her, but is US ready? no.

1/2 I think it's entirely rational to believe Biden lost votes after the debate, and from there it's rational to ask a) how many might that be, and where; b) can he win them back, and c) could it cost him the election if he can't. Unfortunately, there's no hard data on any of that other than polls
