I've read that comic a lot and the trailer hits a lot of notes. Now that doesn't mean people will like it - I'm just holding out hope that faithfulness to the source translates the magic of the comics.

This take seems to be out there a lot but I'm not sure why. This film is based on MM's The Crooked Man, which is a Hellboy story and folk horror. The tone and story match the comic.
It's not the best Hellboy comic, but if your budget's limited, it's got a better chance of still coming out good

This is the story to try. It's very human and small scale. No world-ending threat, no containment. It's about a small number of people and Hellboy.
It also helps that the trailer is showing stuff that is straight from the comic. Except the crooked man is scarier in the trailer.

Yeah... sadly, it was making something of his own in which Hellboy starred. It's not a Hellboy story, it's just a Frankenstein's monster of things to make you say "oh, that's a bit like the comics".
Karl Ruprecht Kroenen is a prime example: germaphobe SS scientist becomes an elite assassin.

GDT made GDT's Hellboy. If you put a skinny blonde dude in Hellboy's place and said they're John Constantine movies, they'd work just as well. Just pretty visuals and monsters. It's not MM's Hellboy.
If you've never read The Crooked Man, worth a look. The tone of this trailer is exactly right.

Oh, this cool-looking Nazi scientist who is an eloquent amoral geek in the comics would be the ideal template for a mute assassin in the movie.
Also, let's make an early threat some random demon for no reason.
Golden Army was fine, but it took a steaming shit on canon and changed elves completely

I've been on the Hellboy train since the comics began and I'm in for this movie.
The crooked man is a great standalone story. It's small in scope and location. If you're gonna do something weird, this is one of the stories to do it with.
And let's not pretend Hellboy '04 isn't shit, because it is

Her hubris while sitting on a string of cancer cases and other medical issues has a direct line to our current situation.
She acted like no one could replace her. Well, Amy Coney Barrett did just that. Her legacy is forever tarnished by her ego.

Apropos of nothing, Mos Def is my canonical Ford Prefect.
Going in, I remember being very unsure how an American rapper would deliver on the British-written alien weirdness of Ford. I left unable to read hhgttg without seeing him in my head.
To be clear, this is a good thing. He owned that role.

I like my hurricanes and my z2 (the toe strap). I hated the strap until I tried a size smaller than I thought I was, then it stopped choking my toe. Chacos seem very unforgiving on sizes, but once you have it, it feels great. My hurricanes are great but that toe strap is reassuring on long walks.

If you're willing to look at men's shoes, especially if you're a wide in women's sizes, you'll find some bargains on eBay and on Amazon. Picked up a pair of men's chacos (43) in black for $35 on Amazon. That's nuts.

No business should be doing this. There are enough mail services and automation solutions out there to separate the sender from the thing being sent. It should not be down to someone correctly differentiating "cc" and "bcc". With Office 365, Power Automate can send individual emails, not mass email

Nike paying Caitlin Clark $28m for a sneaker deal is awesome. Until the final four reduced the crowd, I couldn't have named a single men's player in men's March Madness, while the women's tournament had multiple stars. Caitlin was a big part of that - she provided stories and people love a narrative

To a kid who found sandman alongside the Judge Dredd graphic novels in his local library, it was an eye opener. Judge Anderson: Childhood's End was a tough read, but scenes like this one felt infinitely more "grown-up" (for a fourteen year old, anyway).

I like Mastodon, but you have to understand what it is to appreciate it, and the best way of doing that is to understand open source.
Open source is the best option when you want the source to be open.
When you want slick UI and UX, you go commercial.
"Jank tolerance" is a key factor.

You literally responded to a post about the bombing of Rafah complaining about the "superb owl" joke. Your comment brought a pun into the context of state-sponsored murder.
I'm not some "free speech" absolutist. The "dots or feathers?" crowd can get fucked, for example, but this is a weak complaint

These were not equivalent things, though.
The senseless murder of innocents vs the potential for some people to be upset by a (pretty unimpressive) bit of wordplay.
You grouped them, thus equating them

Holy shit! I responded seriously to your letter comment, but I just realized you're upset that people are making a pun about the Super Bowl!
You are a far-too-serious person looking to be offended, which is your right, but don't expect everyone to take that seriously.

He has to blaze his own trail though. No fraud or vaccine denial.
I look forward to learning about his appreciation for pedophilia and seal clubbing in ten years.
