I love my country. You might even be able to call me patriotic, but with the erosion of democracy since 1981, the ideal of my country is gone. It's a shell reverting back to its worst aspects of itself. Is "We the People" a lie? Is it only for the rich?

and I do not believe that you can desensitize yourself to very very realistic fictional depictions of something and totally bar that from affecting how you react to the real thing. I just don’t. we forget all the time that news stories and celebrities and such are actual real events and people

Jon Lovett did a bit on seeing the Hunger Games in theater and listening to people laugh and cheer when the "right" children get killed. "Oh, I see. You're not watching a movie *about* the Hunger Games. You're just... watching the Hunger Games." I think about that a lot.

You can tell about how it is depicted and who the intended audience is. Like I saw Deadpool and everyone was laughing at horrific violence at times when the I don't even think the writers intended it to be funny.
