It's brilliant what's happening but muting Wes Streeting will be a thing for me over the next decade

Hall's new album is actually pretty good and his YouTube channel is also worth checking out for the collaborations - the one with Fripp is joyous.

Oh I didn't know that. It's amazing how these things don't seem to matter when your only aim in life is to spread hate

I can't help recall when she was no Newsnight Review many years ago and she appeared so reasonable. Tony Parsons was on that as well and he appears to have been similarly radicalised.

Even his last one bears little relation to the live versions. There's definitely a glam dimension to how he puts them across.

Not sure when Kevin Morby morphed from folky to rock god but his Leeds show was monumental

It's his most focused for a good while. I'm a huge fan, seen him umpteem times, chatted at the merch. His amazing voice really comes through on this and it's clearly a very personal record. Nothing beats his live rendition of Queen of Denmark, though, goosebumps on goosebumps

20 years ago tonight: the end of David Bowie as a touring musician. His last full concert, at the Hurricane Festival in Scheeßel, Germany, 25 June 2004. He closed with "Heroes?", "Life on Mars?," & "Ziggy," collapsed backstage & was rushed to the hospital. bowiesongs.wordpress.com/2015/03/11/t...

I've been listening to the more recent one, Comradely Objects. They've definitely got something going on which intrigues and they chug along until a dissonant sax interrupts. File under 'interesting'

We’re in Sunak’s constituency with the family for a long weekend and on the basis of my anecdotal evidence so far he’s a goner

The legendary No New York LP, compiled by Eno, is out of print but here it is on YT. Half of the tracks are by James Chance in different bands:

Ryan Davis in York. Daringly different. Think David Berman meets Tom Waits and Thom Yorke in a science lab listening to Merle Haggard. Outstanding.

I can remember more about it than the gig last week but it helps having the final show a few days later on dvd - they were virtually identical

After delving deeper, the growing influence of Mick Ronson is evident. You saw Bowie in 73 as I did and I remember him almost as much as the man himself.

A new John Grant album is like meeting an old friend. The voice, the confessional and the honesty is a rare thing. This one is a masterpiece of classic songwriting and stunning arrangements.
