I suspect he's right because it's a 2 way street and we aren't even going to be considered until we are considerably more stable - we can't play hokey cokey with membership.
Plus this time we won't get any concessions and despite polling are people going to vote for the € etc.
Starmer seems to be doing his best to alienate sensible people in the UK & pander to the transphobic, xenophobic minority; just the sort of people that the thinking voter fuckin DETESTS. I'm glad the sensible vote in my constituency is for the Lib-Dems not Labour!

No one can predict the future that far ahead, and circumstances change all the time.

It would take 10 years realistically for us to rejoin the EU. We've lost an incredible amount of trust with our European friends, however much we want to rejoin.
The issue I have is the message. While the EU might not be very eager to have us back, Starmer (by extension labour) have said they're ruling it out, categorically.
Anti trans - the messaging from Labour is unnecessarily cruel.
Based on these two points, I have decided my values are elsewhere.
Starmer won't be prime minister for ever.
But, even if he promised the moon on a stick as far as rejoining the EU goes, he can't deliver. It's not up to him, it's up to the EU, and right now there's little appetite withing the EU for the UK rejoining.
