Itās fun to watch someone be good at something they worked hard to become good at!! Itās less fun to be told something is easy and simple when you can clearly see that itās difficult and complex and you know very well you couldnāt replicate it without a ton of very patient teaching.

Which is exactly what I so badly needed to hear when my child was small, and never didāinstead I heard over and over how it was all my fault. Iām working on forgiving those people, + myself for letting them have any space in my brain or my kitchen. Itās good to teach kids how to decline politely. >

My toxic trait obviously is that I keep engaging with those posts. (Because every so often someone seems relieved to hear that no, their kid is NOT the only one with a very limited āsafeā list, & yes, those kids CAN become fully functional adults even without learning to love broccoli (or whatever)

Yeah, I have not had a cold or the flu since 2019 (I did have COVID one time, in Dec'21/Jan'22), and I'm a pretty big fan of that tbh. I don't mind masking at all & I really enjoy not being sick, so I have just continued to mask in indoor public areas as consistently as I possibly can.

Mine is mostly music, though not always. Discovering as a young adult that not everyone can hear the rest of the parts in their head while singing one part was mind-blowing to me. As was discovering that for some folks āsee it in my mindās eyeā is not a metaphor! Brains are so weird.

ISTG when I first read about the concept of āsafe foodsā it felt so liberating? Thatās what my kid has, SAFE FOODS. Foods she knows she can eat & nothing bad will happen. I also have safe foods! Because I am vegetarian and have food allergies! But somehow that doesnāt get the same commentary š¤

Translating titles is so weird. My favourite example is a very famous novel by Gabrielle Roy, Bonheur dāoccasionāwhich in English is called The Tin Flute. Now, sure, thereās a tin flute in one scene, but why name the whole book after it? Idk, maybe āsecondhand happinessā sounds weird in English.
