No such thing as blocking too much. The only way that ANY of these sites are tolerable for human consumption is by vigorous curation of one's own experience, and that includes by blocking. If anyone messes up the vibes on my feed? Blocked. It's truly not personal! I hope people do the same to me.

My old classmate who had to join the military during the Iraq War because otherwise he'd be homeless in a neighborhood known for terrible gang violence? Never fired a gun during service, never hurt nobody. My old neighbor who was an army recruiter, lying to people like him for his career? Fuck him!

I will never judge anyone who was in the army based only on that fact. Our society is engineered in such a way as to force a lot of people with no better option into the military! It's a huge part of what's wrong! Now, some people in the military, yes, absolute monsters - because of what they did.

Virtue signaling as a phrase is all but worthless due to the sort of people who tend to use it, which is a shame because it really is an apt description of a separate and distinct sort of behavior built around not talking to people, but past people in order to broadcast your own purity.

Personally I think the democratic party's core problem has been and remains the fact that their most devoted supporters are more likely to call people who disagree with them idiots and scream at them than to try and understand that disagreement and perhaps compromise with those constituencies.
