Google’s emissions are up 48% in 5 years. Microsoft’s are up 30% since 2020. Those soaring figures are being driven by mass investments in data centers to power AI tools. Generative AI is a climate disaster and data center expansion must be stopped.

I'm starting to think of nationalism as being a bit like an immune system. It's gonna kick aff when things go wrong. It attacks the wrong things. It makes life hell. And it's actually more likely to kill you than the disease, in a lot of cases.

When you live in a nice enough little country where everything basically works, you never see a flag from one week to the next. But when it's all gone to shit, nothing works, and people are getting rickets, all of a sudden it's flags as far as the eye can see and "are country are country".

(Also, as an aside, that's why I touch everything, secretly, on bad days. So I can understand where - and that - this object ends, what it is, how it's orientated, how big it is, and where another thing - or no thing - begins. If you catch me brushing my hands on stuff that's what's going on.)

It's also worth saying that the reason I find visual clutter really difficult is because #mecfs has completely fucked my brain/cognition/especially visually, and on bad days I can literally struggle to understand objects.

Remember when he tried to remove links because they visually cluttered his stream? This is the same thing. As someone who finds visual clutter difficult I get it, but there's that little thing called "functionality" and "users", and I guess if this happens that's likely when I stop using Twitter.

Raw number comparison (because the % comparisons don't tell the full story) 2019: Cons—13.9 million Brexit—600k Total gammon vote—14.5 million 2024 Cons—6.7 million Reform—4 million Total gammon vote—10.7 million Labour have 9.6m votes, which is 600k *less* than 2019.

Yup. Centrist men are actually the biggest political danger for minorities. Because they don't actually believe anything. They just go wherever the Overton tells them their opinion is The Right One, and will pretty much say anything for the approval of their peers.
