Don't get me wrong. Individual Jedi are clearly good & heroic. And in no way am I saying "the Sith are right." They're also evil, but in a different way. Yet the Jedi are a fundamentally evil, corrupting faction, a reminder of how mixing religion, power & politics always produces great suffering.

Finally catching up with episode 6 of The Acolyte. I'm still enjoying it (episode 3 aside). But jeez, it's a reminder of how much I hate the Jedi. The more Star Wars writers explore them, the more it's like they're trying to make the Bene Gesserit into the good guys.

Bro saying if I put cream & sugar in my coffee, I'm not drinking coffee; I'm drinking a milkshake. Dude. The world is on fire. The future is eating itself. Somehow the Royalists, Confederates, AND Nazis are back. Just let me enjoy my F'ing coffee the way I want & shut your dang mouth.

Hey, remember Passengers (2016), where somebody accidentally made a Sci-Fi Horror script into a Sci-Fi Romance film? That was pretty messed up.

The Venn diagram of posters who complain about cyclists breaking the law and posters who complain about cameras giving them a ticket when they break the law is a circle.

Project 2025 was from the Chris Rufo school of fascist communications, where you discuss your evil schemes out loud, confident the "normies" are not paying enough attention to notice.

But now it seems less politically engaged people are taking notice.

That score is rough. Even worse than the US cut of Legend & the latter at least has the excuse that it was written & recorded in like 2 weeks.

As a young man, I hoped to live in the future of Star Trek & Star Trek: TNG. I am profoundly disappointed to find myself living through the Star Wars prequels, instead.

Can you imagine if Star Wars, original Trek or Next Gen, or Aliens came out today? They'd be in the streets, gnashing teeth and rending garments in fits of rage & aggrievement.

Fans are really bringing back the term's original meaning. They're fanatics who have lost all sense of reason or proportion. I think it stems from resentment left over from the 80s, 90s & early 00s, compounded by internet echo chambers &...well, the state of the world.

Can't say I have any "hate" for it. I just find it kinda bland. Like, anything I might do with it has a better version I could use instead.

Episode 5 was interesting. The show certainly looks nice. I'm not totally sold on the big reveal, but that might be my own problems with the storytelling around the Force & its followers.

I just watched 4 and enjoyed it. Not sure if I'll get to 5 tonight. Episode 3 had stuff I liked, but I super hated the scripting around the twin kids.

OK, I half-hated episode 3. Star Wars never seems to be able to handle child characters well. They're insufferable, stupid, or...insufferable and stupid.

It seems like the more we learn about the universe, the more hostile to life it is & the more likely it is that we're alone. I think that's just about the saddest thing imaginable.

If every hotel you've looked up in the city & its immediate surroundings charges for parking, maybe that should say something to you. Something like, parking isn't free. Or, don't drive in the city. Not let me ask what's close to everything, with free parking, a pool & free breakfast?

So much this. I'm from a very small, town in Maine where we prided ourselves on being cool with everyone. So many of my contemporaries went down a dark, hateful path since the 90s, though. I've come to think 9/11 broke a lot of people more and in ways we haven't processed.

Fight to Survive. Doesn't use dice or cards. Plus, the game's focus is on the sadness and suffering of a martial life more than on the actual combat. And it has a very 70s/80s, The Warriors/Streets of Fire/Rocky/Karate Kid vibe that I dig.
