When I was a pre-teen I used to live next to a ravine that ran through the city. Some developers bought up the land on the opposite side and built a bunch of monster homes. They cut down all the trees that overlooked the ravine so the houses would have a nice few.

A friend of mine finally managed to get on our provincial disability support after many rounds of appeals. They literally used the fact that she was able to successfully navigate the application process as "proof" that she could work at a job. If that isn't dystopian, I don't know what is.

I got free tickets to see it in the theatre. Easily the worst film I've ever seen. When it gets to the scene where the alien planet blows up somebody in the audience yelled, "You know what that means! No sequel!" and the entire theatre burst into cheers.

I threw out my recycling yesterday and discovered the emptied box was in my recycling bin. I don't know why, but that was the part that enraged me. They stole food, it sucks, but maybe they're just hungry. But seeing the unpacked boxes thrown in my bin felt like a deliberate fuck you.

It absolutely is. My mother had a section of her roof collapse into her house. The insurance company falsified inspection records to claim it was caused by animal damage, which they didn't cover. A lawyer would have cost her more than just paying to have it repaired herself.
