I've had plums like that with ice cream as a dessert special, they were fantastic. Neighbor at the bar asked me if I was really eating boiled beets with ice cream (I have to believe the cook spotted them on the produce truck and knew he had to make a dessert special on sight)

Sadly private planes are less safe than commercial planes but still safer than cars or just being a pedestrian. We need to encourage them to take up motorcycling

As a proper Irishman, Biden should travel to Florida and break Trump's kneecaps with a bat, personally (And then pardon himself and tell the justice department to petition the SC on whether the pardon is valid)

Clearly better than any other platform's strategy, but there's still a downside with the number of people who do reply-then-block leaving an orphaned reply that obviously refers to something that's no longer findable. I wish more people did block-but-don't-reply

Agreed, the fact that modern broadband companies still advertise numbers in bits/sec rather than bytes/sec is intentional misleading marketing

It's historic non-nonsense. Before Intel took over the CPU world a byte could be anything from 5 to 9 bits. Standards docs said "octet" rather than "byte" to mean something that's always 8 bits. Bits-per-second was the only way to get a number that everyone understood

Huh, then it will be interesting to see. I would have assumed this would be 100% on the MD's head, that it wouldn't be IT's responsibility to prevent MDs from breaking the law Thanks

It sounds weird but this would be pretty routine. He might need records about work he did when he was there for followup reasons, research, CV (if he was going the academic route). I was in non-healthcare IT and this would have been expected, though he might have needed an in-house sponsor

But there's some learning involved - there's a bunch of studies that people who learn tonal languages as children are far more likely to have perfect pitch than those who don't There are also correlations to genetic differences and to medication use so it's probably wildly complicated in the brain

I did it for the same reason and it's worthwhile. It's great for recognizing the names of politicians and public figures that show up in headlines and on-screen. Helpful in some video games in eastern Euro settings too I've never figured out "Ы" and "Ь" though, they're just weird

That's why the state of the art in cloud apps is that every server process is launched, runs for 30 minutes or so serving user requests, then dies and a new one is launched by the app's overseer. After that long the app is quite likely corrupted by some bug, running out of memory or something

I would not put them at the top! When it finally gets to a human, the first paragraph (really the first sentence) should be something aimed at a human that will grab their attention I don't think the software filters care if they're at the top or further down

You can get a lot of them from the job postings, or the breathless headlines in trade press and press releases I was a hiring manager and knew the keywords I'd want to see in my own applicants... if you can imagine yourself in that position, that would work. If you're jobhunting, best of luck

One workaround is to have one block larded with all the keywords that get you through the mass filter, preceded and followed by the stuff a human will want to see. For me it was: Summary [for humans, with goals], Expertise in: [keywords], Job History: [for humans] It worked for me anyway

That's a great plan in order to keep a bit of respect for humanity, but... really it was so entertaining. Armies rose up to say that the dismissal would be overturned on appeal because the trial judge confessed personal bias against Vic. He confessed by dismissing the suit "with prejudice"

Right, even if the US doesn't do it, the chances are high that another country or a billionaire will, and it would be really good to understand what will happen beforehand. (Neal Stephenson's "Termination Shock" is about this)

Aha! "Standards cover access to sink and to lavatories, which are sinks used for handwashing in toilet and bathing facilities". In normal use I've never heard it used for anything except toilets/urinals etc, but code is code.

That setup might violate the 30" minimum between the center of the sink and the center of the toilet? Can't quite tell there

I don't think that bit of code applies to sinks, though. It would apply to the toilet but the photo doesn't go low enough to see that clearance

The locals don't "ignore" them, the locals have learned what's unsafe, so thoroughly they don't even think about it any more. Visitors have not. (A lesson I learned in Texas when I realized my MA-bred mom was wandering around in meadows with bare ankles to pick wildflowers)
