It seems the issue is look at the response to the student protests. Even if Biden wanted to do more on Gaza he would get hammered by the media, republicans, and some democrats about him not supporting Israel. That would scare off more moderates or never Trumpers that he needs vs college students.

For all my complaints about the editorial choices of the NYTimes and the (alleged) kitten killing sprees of its insane publisher A.G. Sulzberger, the paper still has excellent reporters.

Is it ability/lack of teaching? I don't think teachers are failing, but we have so many different options for entertainment now and it's easier to access so reading ability suffers, but hopefully comprehension is still there.
