I also think it's important to distinguish between flavours of attention, like rock stars obviously crave attention but it's fine! They go perform on stage, they sponsor a charity, they get caught doing enough drugs to kill a horse & frame the mugshot, it's a hoot for all involved. Very different!

My view is I don't want elected officials profiteering off their involvement in politics and government but I also think the influencer/pundit barnacles on the side of our politics profiteering off it in the private sector is even worse and even more corrosive.
