I ❤️ this kind of feet-on-the-ground, speaking face-to-face with a local Mister or Ms. sort of reporting. I watched Charles Kuralt do this kind of thing for decades on CBS, and that's what got me hooked on journalism. (I've also had breakfast on several occasions at Cafe du Monde. Great stuff!) 😎

Yes, I'm sure my father and his brothers were sad that I didn't pursue engineering, but my math skills were just not up to it. However, by the time I was 18 y/o I'd already had a couple of articles published in the local newspaper and some photos in area art gallery shows. They were happy for me. 😏

(3/3) But from the time I was about 7 y/o, my engineer dad and his brothers would take the time to teach me why things in the natural world behave the way they do, and (in very plain language) would teach me the intricacies of critical thinking. For this education I will forever be grateful. 👏💯

(2/3) I was raised in a family of engineers. I'm not an engineer, myself, because it was determined through testing at a young age that my talents are much more right-brain oriented (writing, illustration, photography, creative thinking).
