Library funding is almost always justified through patron numbers. The more people a library serves, the more funding it gets. So even if you don't regularly use a public library, get a library card. It costs you nothing and helps everyone in your community.

By this day 3 yrs ago (6/30/21), half a million people in prison had contracted Covid, showing the need to create consistent policies to prevent future health crises from sickening thousands behind bars. It was a missed opportunity to rethink US addiction to incarceration.

If you're in NY and can sign this, please do. Masks bans will not combat antisemitism, they will just put disabled people at risk. We can and must do better.

App 80% of organic waste collected by NYC's Dept of Sanitation becomes methane, which is burned for electricity. Just 20% is turned into the compost that makes tomatoes beefier & trees leafier, while not contributing to the climate crisis by creating more fossil fuels.

I was reading about Louise Norton Little (1894 or 1897 – December 18, 1989) last night. I had never seen a photo of her so I searched for one. She was gorgeous. I also didn't know that she died in 1989!!!! She lived a long life. She was Malcolm X's mother for those who might not know.

Clarence Thomas’ grandnephew, whom he and his wife raised as a son, was more or less left on his own when he began using drugs in high school and became involved with the criminal legal system. "I actually don't know if they know that I'm locked up — I'm not sure they'd care too much,” he told BI.
