Israeli lawmakers voted 71-10 in favor of a bill that will allow Prime Minister Netanyahu to ban the news network Al Jazeera from operating in Israel, citing national security concerns over its coverage of the war in Gaza.

Absolutely disgusting to see them ban a news network. This is why I give 0 shits about the national security card when free speech is on the table. India does this authoritarian crap as well to shut down dissent. This is why we must push back on authoritarians whether we support the network or not.
Al Jazeera has a lot of predictably slanted coverage, but not egregiously so, and some reportage is straight down the middle and well confirmed.
I find it awkward to say this but IMO it's true.
Haaretz is pretty much the same from the other side.
IMO let the readers decide.
The Post should credential every single Al Jazeera staff member or stringer working in Israel or Palestine and make Israel ban the Washington Post if they dare.
I used to regularly read Al Jazeera. They covered topics that were often overlooked by western media and they showed above average professionalism
Until 10/7/23.
That day they became a Hamas cheering section. More fox-y than Fox.
I'm surprised Israeli media is as open as it is, relative to my expectations. Although there's plenty of this bullshit (but not on this level per se), there's also plenty of good reporting which is critical of the government, military, etc. They make our own media coverage look rather foolish.
