Today, July 8th, is the 24th anniversary of the infamous "Paddleboro" raid, in which Attleboro, Mass. police broke up a BDSM play party of consenting adults, and charged one attendee with "assault with a dangerous weapon" for paddling the other with a wooden spoon.

My understanding of the new Supreme Court ruling about presidential immunity is thus: Trump cannot be tried for his criminal mishandling of covid. But he'd be hard pressed to convince a judge his DC rally is an "official act".

I'm no fan of monarchy and it would be awesome if the UK one spontaneously disintegrated, but I'm pretty sure most people under 30 or so have no idea what she was called "The People's Princess" and so beloved.
