Honestly. If this panic gets more people to vote blue in November then it's.... worth it? I know it sucks, it's anxiety inducing, folks are losing sleep... But you can bet every one of those will be at the ballot box in November.

Yesterday evening I was full to the brim with anxiety, so I grabbed my bicycle and did a 10 mile ride. It actually helped quiet a bit. I think our bodies are wired to deal with anxiety using physical activity.

Yeah. An anecdote; I remember that time I visited Canada and was pulled aside by immigration because for some reason they thought I might not leave. Was grilled about my job, return flight and why I was visiting. And this was in 2008.

When that happened to me, I blocked the dipshit who dragged me, then went back to using ALT text when I can. There's no reason to not do something nice for others just because someone was a jerk about trying to get you to do it.

One big example is right now I can't be friends with people who support Trump. The guy has made it abundantly clear that he is a psychopath who wants to hurt others. As far as I'm concerned supporting him is equivalent to saying "Hitler was a good man". NO. We can't just "agree to disagree" on that.

I've thought about this before. I feel like having a gun is *more* likely to get me shot by an assailant. Especially if I don't have any combat training. And individually, even well-armed we have little hope against a violent oppressive state.

It did get better over time as AOL users learned how to use the Internet, but it still felt like our private little club was being invaded. But when you look back, these AOL users were still early adopters. The real "teeming masses" would come many years later, leading us to how things are now.

Then one day, AOL opened the floodgates and let their teeming masses, basically "normies", onto the Internet. We were flooded with new users who had no idea what they were doing. It was insane. An AOL E-mail address usually meant you were going to be frustrated with that person.

You see, back in the mid-90s, AOL was not the Internet. It was a completely closed off "online service" which you dialed into. The Internet was still in its early days, mostly a research network that was the realm of nerds and university students.

Ya know it's sad how this happens to people. Like, when I first entered the fandom in the 90s all the sexual expression that was so different than what I had seen made me uncomfortable at first. BUT instead of being an asshole, I just grew to accept it. I even learned new things about myself.
