I need Cavill and Amazon to lean into the absurdity of 40k. Don't mainstream it, don't make it palatable.
Fucking own that it is deranged and dark, and most people haven't engaged with anything like it before.
A 40K TV series needs to embrace the silliness of a world where a future version of humanity will drop armored cathedrals on alien planets to act as beach heads for armies of nuns with flame throwers and jet packs
My fear is that it's just going to be a bunch of space marine stuff which, granted, can be good, but will lack the context that will make them interesting (ie just how fucked the Imperium is.) It should be an anthology series that showcases different aspects of how fucked up shit is.
All I know about 40k is the day I went down a rabbit hole on the 40k wiki reading their lore. It is easily the most fucked up grimdark sci fi world out there. If I were born to that world I would just commit suicide. Would love to see a TV show though.
I feel like the only way to truly do it justice is if the action scenes are so big, melodramatic and over the top that they can be accompanied by a big orchestral soundtrack or Yakety Sax equally well
The intro could start with the day to day life of someone working in a manufactorum. Grim, unpalatable, oppressive.
They win the lottery!
The prize is to escape existence through servitorization, and it’s treated by both the participant and tech priests as a real blessing.
I wouldn't have that they would but after seeing how faithful to the tone and humor of fallout i actually have a bit of faith now. It might not be as 100% full grim dark as I hope but I think it will be much closer than it could have been
Henry Cavill is big on staying true to source material if you read why he left The Witcher. So you may not be making a huge ask considering his passion for the game.
