I don’t think I did when I played AD&D 2E, but when 3E rolled around I definitely did. I remember it being pretty common advice in articles and books. Most of my college crew did, as did many players up till around 2010. Then I was into indie RPGs where it didn’t matter, until about four years ago.

This also goes for rolling dice one at a time instead of all at once for things like damage or (if you play D&D) advantage/disadvantage.

Do you roll damage dice with your attack rolls? I found this to be pretty common practice in most of the groups I gamed with years back, but these days find myself the odd one out doing it. Even on big streaming shows I don’t see the cast doing it, when it would save so much time.

Solo RPG YouTubers need to take way more time with their plays because they make WAY too many egregious errors. Literally just watched someone read “Roll 1d10” and immediately roll a d6. And it’s like this constantly.

As a player I'm proud because GMs always tend to love my spell descriptions. I make a big deal about them on my first casting, then usually don't bring them up too much other than an occasional short reminder now and then, and haul them back out with a flourish for important fights.

On June 26 we lost one of the brightest, warmest, kindest people I've ever met. Their partner and step-child have been left without much time for bereavement or much to support funerary costs.

They became part of my social media neighborhood, someone I saw around on a near daily basis and was always happy to see. Their art and humor were always a shining point in my day. I already feel their absence, and I miss them. I don’t know what else to say. Things are sadder without them.

I can’t DM you, but Ashton was a kind, delightful, funny person and a skilled artist. I started following them for some Alkenstar art they’d done, and over time we hit it off and became social media pals. We’d quip to each other from time to time and joke around.
