Yes, I know how laws are enforced, but there is actually a lot of room between “employer says they will violate ADA” and “employee must be willing to file lawsuit tomorrow” as far as negotiation and pressure go. It doesn’t mean giving up is the best option.

And if, say, someone has been doing their job effectively for quite some time remotely and then a very large employer were to claim they would not even consider making a reasonable accommodation to continue…that’s the kind of thing hiring a lawyer to send a strongly worded letter could maybe help.

Having the ability to consider a request and then say no isn’t the same as not being willing to consider requests at all. I think ADA requests legally have to be considered on a case-by-case basis and for any accommodation shown to be reasonable the burden is on the employer to prove undue hardship.

Ah, I’m a look for the best deal type. Last time we flew Air NZ, which was lovely. This time I’ll be on Delta one way and Qantas on the way back (for a non-stop to NYC!).

Back in the day the garbage was put in metal bins to be collected by the trucks but at a certain point those stopped working (they did not work well for the workers as I understand it) and then it just stagnated forever instead of being solved.

Yeah this is completely an adult problem (creation and use!) and the main issue for kids is that the amount of media savvy they’ll need to untangle how many adults are wrong about this is going to be beyond a lot of them depending on their age/type of media exposure.
