hi folks! i'm starting a blog. I'm calling it "Random Walk" (for those network nerds out there). this is my first post: "Trump isn't a fascist. But he's embedded in a fascist network."
Let me know what you think!

as far as I can tell (not a con law guy), it wouldn’t require an amendment to double the size of the house and make every new rep elected based on closed party list PR

here’s more if you’re interested in the argument that the way we do primaries now is the worst of both worlds

the real solution, as I always yell about, is to get rid of primaries and find a way to move to at least a mixed-member partial party list system

every election is always a referendum on fascism… but it would be nice for another election where that fascism is like 50 years down the line in the negative timeline as opposed to 2. As a treat.

another interesting look at polarization asymmetry dynamics: www.pnas.org/doi/full/10....
I have some takes that I hope to one day write up in research that "polarization" is a symptom of other things going on, and researchers need to distinguish proactive vs reactive polarization among other lines

so there's a problem with "polarization" as a term, in that people tend to conflate various different dynamics (i think this is fairly decent: academic.oup.com/book/39301/c...)
From this descends the asymmetry: ideological polarization is not symmetric in the US-- www.cambridge.org/core/books/a...

I, your friendly neighborhood far-right researcher/political scientist-in-training, am here to let you know that if academic research/media coverage of "polarization" feels weird to you, that's for good reason. Polarization research is, generally, fundamentally flawed and based on assumed symmetry

kinda funny if you think about it that the media has decided to just fully not interrogate the fact that trump is preparing to do full-scale televised north korea-style purges of political enemies that will likely, in an appeal to QAnon cranks, end with his enemies being thrown in Gitmo

Macron has done this to try to undermine the influence of the far-right party, in a similar way to what the Danish SocDems have done. French people always hate the President, but they REALLY hate Macron, in large part due to this hypocrisy. Hence why the Leftists did so well yesterday.

people have this bizarre perception of the centrists in europe "being further left than [enter anglosphere left-wing party here]" because they tend to support the welfare state. to be as clear as I can be: Macron has tacked right on immigration and security, far to the right of Labour or the Dems.
