Trump's supporters pre-Jan 6 spent months sharing blueprints for guillotines and gallows, planning chemical weapons attacks on the tunnels beneath the white house, and discussing the most painful ways to kill Pence, Pelosi, and Schiff. Trump egged them on. I personally don't want round 2.

I’ve always felt that normative historical forms of transhumanism were deeply enmeshed in problematic anti-human & anti-democratic/anti-liberatory perspectives and it was only various radical and feminist cyberhumanisms that reclaimed it into something worth wanting (and which I agree are the point)

Imo the “they aren’t real transhumanists” line is similar to christians saying “well christian nationalists aren’t real christians”. This is, in fact, a real form of transhumanism as it is actually practiced by one particular network or community.

Every time someone says ban mobile phones for teens or end e2e I remind them of stuff like this- that powerful people abuse children OPENLY and nothing happens. Even before the internet this happened. Phones actually help children evidence and escape this. We don’t care about children at all

I think we are also in an age where the limits of belief itself are rapidly opening to allow in all kinds of things that were previously considered beyond belief for the majority of a society (eg qanon)—and that is directly connected to this also being an age of normal horrors

This is why i often complain about the desire to be able to mute a whole topic of discussion (a thing not easily done because natural human language doesn’t map to keywords). If I’ve seen one doompost about a given topic I’ve seen them all.
