I certainly agree with you on that point! As for whether they make a difference as a stopgap measure - for the people going, like, 35 in a 25, idk honestly. But the speeds drivers on my street reach would just not be physically doable (without serious damaging the car) in a with-speed-bump scenario

Isn't that basically what all decisions around public health/safety come down to? We're already killing people by letting drivers run wild. Show me some serious, thoughtful analysis concluding speedbumps cause a net increase in deaths and I'll gladly eat my words!

Yeah it would be pretty cool if drivers, of their own volition, would just not drive dangerously fast, killing and maiming passersby and other drivers (and increasing the need for ambulance trips). but here we are
