The Supreme Court’s ruling putting presidents above the law must be understood not simply as a grant of immunity for past crimes, but an enthusiastic endorsement of those he will commit if given the chance. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...
SCOTUS is corrupted & not working in the best interest of America. This means we must deny Trump a 2nd term!
Please, let’s all get over Biden’s age cos what we’re facing is greater - American dictatorship & political collapse.
The Constitution put presidents above the law, not this ruling. A president could already have someone commit crimes on his behalf and then pardon them.
This ruling postpones any chance of a trial unless Biden is re-elected.
We need a constitutional convention, or at least a debate on one. Another rogue presidency and an authoritarian judiciary aren't what Americans signed up for.
So can’t Biden now, as an official act, render Trump ineligible to run? Strip him of citizenship? Do anything that will force Republicans, for a change, to waste time in court fighting the very powers they just ‘won’?
Yep. I’m certain his legion of loonies is making a list right now and drafting plans of which crime he can commit first.
Remember when he said “I could stand in the middle of 5th Ave & shoot someone & I wouldn’t lose any votes”
We are literally at that point in time right now.
After President Biden’s disappointing debate, it’s a comfort to think he could simply ignore next fall’s election. I’m sure he’s adequately compos mentis to frame his actions in some official capacity. Thanks, Chief Justice Roberts!
Can’t help thinking that MAGA members of Congress were in the loop on this & were expecting it - they’ve been extra obnoxious lately. They’re all working together to install the Thousand Year Reich.
Maybe the current President could remove Supreme Court justices from office? No? Maybe he could arrest them? Blockade their houses and turn off their Internet? Ya know, for national security reasons?
reminds me of Rome's senate refusing to believe that they were giving (later, had 100% given) all semblance of a republic over to emperors
of course America would do the same - *but at least Rome had a brutal civil war first* - and *Donald Trump is no Julius Caesar*
