/5 So, in terrible circumstances, think what people before you have endured. Think about how you can support and defend folks less able than you to endure. And fight the bastards.

Normally I would be snarky and say canceling the century that made America into a world power is a bold plan, but with the levers of power that may be at their disposal, even this unpopular plan could come to be.

How would a credible candidate have handled questions about Bidenβs age that didnβt alienate Biden supporters to the point of tanking party support if Biden dropped out?
Iβd have a hard time trusting them in that scenario. Iβm still voting against Trump, but there are many to my right.

βBiden shouldβve stepped downβ is going to be 2024s version of βBernie wouldβve wonβ.
Iβm hopeful this wonβt come to be but the win-win proposition for those who argue either of these is the same.

Exactly. It was either this answer or dodge it and have the headline be "Clyborn Refuses to Support Harris Candidacy"

SCOTUS just gave the Biden campaign the ability to further amplify their narrative that Trumpβs SCOTUS is an extreme arm of the GOP, stifling the will of the people and anxious Dems want to ditch the winner of their primary in favor of an unnamed candidate that didnβt receive a single primary vote.

Itβs pretty crazy that youβd propose this plan to avoid a Harris candidacy. If you believe her negatives are this high, do you honestly believe the GOP wonβt fill the void of info on the other potential candidates with similar negatives and with less time and money to combat it?

Sounds like a solid plan and in no way a distraction. Until the FEC, currently chaired by a Republican, imposes civil penalties for the full amount contributed and seizes the accounts weeks ahead of the election.

The thing with primaries is theyβre scheduled so that the losers have plenty of time to lick their wounds and step in line. Assuming this all gets worked out at the convention*, that leaves little time for that to occur.

That too. I just picked the first three problems that came to mind. If you think Biden should step aside, sheβs by far the least of the other bad options.

They already pulled that act in 2000, but just for one state and when it was terribly close. But donβt put it past them to do it more egregiously this time around.

Itβs pretty much a sunk cost or they dump it to the DNC and pray they use it wisely.

Contributions from one campaign to another are subject to contribution limits, so only a few grand could be transferred. Only Biden or Harris can use the cash bc theyβre the two listed on the account.

So you mean immediately endorsing Harris? Anything else means the Dem candidate is down almost $100m in campaign funds, lower name recognition and no national campaign experience.

Here's a nicer version: "the Supreme Court just ruled that I could order the FBI to arrest you for asking that question. My opponent would actually do something like that if he wins. But me? You felt safe asking me that. That's why."

It's completely ass backwards. The danger of a president committing crimes as an individual is nothing compared to him using the government for criminal ends. The very things that we should be most concerned about a corrupt president doing are the things he can't be punished for.

"The only think Nixon did wrong was resigning" has been part of the GOP unspoken ethos for decades. Like an offshoot to their racial dogwhistles. And much like the GOPs support for racism, Trump has made the "Nixon was innocent" part as explicit as it can get.
