Switzerland took over all the ads in the San Francisco subway for a couple months last year. Lots of pictures of a lady doing yoga on Lake Zürich.

That's just right on Market Street. There are a bunch more in the neighborhoods. I go past two that I know of on my commute and it's pretty short!

San Francisco has lost a lot of them but we still have at least three CVS/Walgreens options in the core of downtown. The CVS inside a Target is the only one that isn't horribly depressing at all times.

When we talk about "taxing rich people" there's folks who think we're talking about Aunt Edna who has the second summer home. The astronomical levels of "rich" that now exist are almost unfathomable to people. It's the stuff of vast empirical dynasties. We're talking about taxing emperors.

I definitely want to see that video, but yeah it feels weird to focus on the negatives for a year in a series that has been mostly positive.

Literally happened minutes ago: a truck driver killed a cyclist at an intersection that will be within the congestion pricing zone. Could we get a more stark and timely reminder of why congestion pricing is not just about the revenue? It's about making our STREETS SAFER.

Congestion pricing elsewhere tends to be unpopular right before it starts and then quickly popular after implementation. If it had become effective this summer then there would be time by the election for those benefits to be apparent. Instead the argument will continue to be divisive.

Studies repeatedly show that congestion pricing's popularity is lowest *right before it gets implemented,* recovering and quickly becoming popular once citizens start to see the benefits of it, so of course NY Dems are committed to staying in that "almost implemented" period as long as possible

June 1, 2020 In one of the most notorious days of the Trump presidency, police suddenly advanced on peaceful protesters in Lafayette Park across from the White House, clearing them away with batons, flash-bangs and tear gas. Trump then strode through the park and held up a bible for photographers.

As a recently departed (laid off) employee of Search, that article mostly tracks with my experience. My perception of the decline started a little after RTO in 2021 and escalated severely at the end of 2022. 2023 especially was a year of sacrificing everything to chase AI trends.

There's a reason they use ton-miles when comparing themselves to other countries: US freight almost only moves goods too heavy for trucks, which usually means coal and other cheap per ton goods. They move weight, not value. No one ships perishable goods by rail in the US because it's too slow.

That definitely isn't accurate. US cargo rail has abandoned the majority of its former market share to trucking and nowadays only focuses on bulk cargo like coal and iron which don't have high demand for timely delivery. Track is poorly maintained and crews are overworked, causing many problems.

The fact that you swapped the order of the games in this post really made me hope that Mullet Madjack was the puzzle game. It's such a bizarre name for a puzzle game that I want to see what it would look like. Also Lorelei and the Laser Eyes is a solid name for a boomer shooter, so it all works.

Even beyond the meta obsessives (which are funny because they never agree on what the meta is) the ones upset about anyone not fully focused on the major order are a special kind of baffling to me. They seem to think failure will result in us losing content rather than just twisting the narrative.

That's not true. Wii had Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword and even if you count Twilight Princess as a GCN title instead of Wii then it also has Wind Waker. Then N64 had Ocarina and Majora's Mask, so the Wii U is the only console with a single new Zelda.

I can definitely agree on Trump being the holdout. And it's possible it might actually be bad for them just because if he did really poorly and knew it he would spend all his time obsessed with claiming he did great in his future appearances since it would weigh on him.

That's likely the reason he doesn't want to, but I still think a debate would ultimately be more useful for him than harmful. The conservative media would spin any performance by him positively no matter how poorly it reflected the actual substance of the debate.

You imagine Trump needing to do anything but yell louder than Biden for at least long enough to fill a 30 second ad. The full content of a debate wouldn't matter, just the heavily edited clips that conservatives can pull out of it.
