At the outset, I want to make it clear that I think the allegations against Gaiman are serious, credible, and very disturbing. Nothing in this thread should be taken as suggesting that I think otherwise.
I'm purely highlighting some points about what defamation law can/can't do.

Love when a piece of fiction is like, actually our dragons are alien refugees from another planet who were chased here by a pissed off robot crab, accidentally created catholicism, then started a fight with it until a heretic schism happened because one lady really, really wanted to fuck a dragon.

Also, I understand that they want to keep things fast-paced, but do either fast telegraphs or deadly attacks, not both. These reflexes of mine are getting too slow for this stuff.

Bosses can one-shot or two-shot you in Duty Support would be less annoying if the damn NPCs didn't decide to stack on me at every opportunity. By the time I notice it's too late to move away. #ffxiv

Oh look, it's "time to block people who don't believe that innocent until proven guilty is a necessary foundation for a justice system that is actually just" again.

Push button behind the lid is pretty common when the tank is in-wall. Being able to push the button by leaning on the lid is... less so. Probably startled a lot of people on the first use.

I haven't looked at the reviews to avoid spoilers, so all I've seen are headlines. I may well change my mind later but for now I'm keeping a cautious optimism.

I wonder if those harsh reviews I keep hearing about come from the fact that people finished it in two days? OK, maybe it's not Shadowbringers redux, but that's like funneling food into your gullet and then complaining that you can't taste anything and your stomach hurts.

I've only done the first two quest chains out of the main hub but so far I'm liking Dawntrail a lot and Wuk Lamat is worthy of the Rosa Diaz meme.

Frankly I'm more annoyed that he asks people to cover up the service fee like it's 1997 (and also IIRC it's against the Paypal ToS)

"The thing is what it does." The math does not care why I withheld my (or just didn't) vote, it does not care about my principles or intentions. It spits out a result, and one person or another's policies are put in place. Votes are not symbols, or statements, they are power.

It's the "what is a sandwich" question all over again. Some substitutions are fine, but if you switch _everything_ in a recipe then you're just making a different dish. ๐
But yeah, the lasagne sheets are usually made with eggs and flour.

It's not a dish of my region but far as I know pasta con le sarde is not done with lasagne or other egg pasta. Not saying it can't be done but it sounds odd in an old collection of traditional dishes.

And it's odd to read in the comments that anchovies are not a "purist" topping for Italian pizza, since we have two classic styles that have anchovies on them? Same for tuna, olives, capers? We have pizzas with *nettles*, ffs.

There's lots of unwritten rules for unspecified reasons. Like, you'd only do prosciutto e melone with crudo , but not with baked ham. Or, veggie lasagne are fine (although they're awfully close to a parmigiana) but seafood lasagne is a huge faux pas. ๐คท

Maybe we could, I dunno, force supermarkets and office buildings to upgrade their 30-year old inefficient AC units and not run them at polar temperatures before we attack regular people for trying not to melt in their homes. But what do I know.

Man, this last season of Doctor Who sucked so hard for me. I couldn't get into the Doctor, the companion, the side characters, the stories, anything. Everything I feared about RTD's return was there times a hundred. I'm grateful he revived the series in 2005 but he's just scraped butter now.

Sometimes people ask me about the super rich in Renaissance Florence, whether the art/culture/science boom was an example of trickle-down working. (A) Florence had a wealth tax, (B) its richest man Palla Strozzi had the equivalent of only $250 million. Want more Leonardos? Tax the Rich. ๐จ๐งโ๐จ๐๐ญ๐ญ๐ผ๐๐๐๐ป๐ฐ

I've had so many misunderstandings on those topics with American friends over the years, loud patriotism in particular because over here it's a Huge Red Flag and over there it's just... a regular thing. In general, we tend to show love by nagging loudly rather than with straight-out praise.
