She's basically the only path forward that doesn't balkanize the entire Democratic Party and lead to a nightmare at the convention. Even the farther left wing seems to be all right with it because they're being realistic about the situation. If Biden does a torch pass, it's weirdly straightforward.
I dunno, I'd be afraid of some on the hard left going back to the 'well she's a cop' excuse to once again protect their spotless record of non-voting, although I guess it's possible that in context of Biden dropping out, they'd see it as a win and be more willing to look the other way on that.
I voted for Biden/Harris in 2020 assuming that meant I was voting for Harris/? in 2024. Another part of that to consider is it means Dems could have the exciting reveal of who Harris picks to join the ticket, as a way to help exorcise the bad vibes.
Everyone in this discussion is forgetting the precedent of Matt Santos and Eric Baker. Arnie Vinick never even held a press conference about this. Complete nothing burger.
Just from an optics standpoint alone, wouldn't it look bad if it *wasnt* her just because she's the VP? I feel like right there you can't have someone jump her
Every polling indicator I’ve seen shows Harris doing no worse than Biden against Trump. Anyone using that as an argument to stay the course is pretending that Biden can essentially pitch a perfect game from here on out, which I have zero faith in. I’d rather take the chance on an election reboot.
“All right” is not exactly the term I’d go with because she is “the police” and a literal “fed” but yes we’re gonna have to eat that turd to keep Trump out of office electorally speaking.
Yup. You don’t even have to get into the merits of Harris as a candidate, or the race and gender dynamics, or any of that. As a practical matter at this late stage it’s the VP, uncontested, unless the VP declines. There’s no time for anything else and even if there was, incumbent VPs win primaries.
I’m not particularly thrilled with her record on trans issues as California Attorney General, but, like, you go to the ballot box with the coalition you have.
I was saying it’s weird, I think Booker could do too due to few things (including not really gunning for), but because he’s a better man now, no one mentions anymore
