When some from NZ say disinfo didn't have much of an impact in New Zealand's Oct '23 general election, they completely miss out on influence operations w/ clear astroturfing pathologies. Inter alia, Facebook Pixel ad tech was central to this, but no one cares. sanjanah.wordpress.com/2024/04/20/a...

𧾠In 2020, I nearly died from mysterious industrial chemical exposure at my apartment. Later, I discovered my employer was dumping toxic waste into our windows from their Skunkworks semiconductor fab next-door. I tipped off US EPA, who then raided them in 2023. EPA sent me the report on Friday. đ âŹď¸

Speaking as a library being, if you're struggling to read and want accessible classics, check your local library. We often have adapted versions of popular or classic books suitable for children, for adults who are reading in a second language or have a disability that makes reading harder.

Yep. Thereâs a whole ethical aspect that is being ignored, perhaps not even seen. I often (not always) get confused looks when I say I have huge ethical objections to AI, which have nothing to do with kids getting chat gpt to write their essays.

WIRED caught an AI company scraping its articles w/o permission. Turns out, Amazon was hosting the machine doing the scraping, even though that violates Amazon's terms of service.

Really interesting workshop this morning with Dr Chris Bowden on trauma informed practice. Key takeaways - the % of kids with trauma is huge - NZ is way behind on addressing this - compassion is key And I left thinking $60 million on structured literacy isnât the answer.
