That's a big part of why my knee-jerk response to any surprise decisions that must be made right now is "NO." My gf can say "Hey, we should go play mini-golf today!" I love mini-golf. I love my gf. I will still reflexively say "NO." Even harmless spontaneity requires at least 1 hour notice.

Republicans have been steadily voting for "their guy," even when he's their idea of a "lesser evil," for 40yrs. Democrats only vote when "their guy" is ideologically pure because we can't stand being complicit in our idea of a "lesser evil." Which side is closer to their ultimate end goal rn?

Holy shit. That's amazing. Maybe I need to do some of my pleasure writing *before* I start my work writing. Work writing is so hard, and then writing personal projects after I get done with that is still so hard. Maybe both will be easier if I eat my dessert first, so to speak.

Yeah, the cropping here is super weird and super suspicious. I immediately distrusted it. They went *pretty far* out of their way to get rid of the subhead, the byline, the date, and everything except the most inflammatory string of words they could awkwardly squish into a box.

Yes, the theme of "some people's lives are worth a *lot* more than others, based on their wealth, power, or importance to the narrative" is what I was going for. The moral difference between killing a mook and a criminal mastermind is that killing the mook is *worse* by every possible metric.

I start out assuming that the rough draft will be +/- 100k long. I'm usually pretty close to that. I then assume that the editing process will take it down to around 75k–80k. That's got a higher margin of error, tho.

I fear that the fact they've decided to rule before the election means they've managed to weave together the right strands of sloppy legal bullshit to give Trump a Trump-Only Immunity that can never apply to anyone else or ever be used as a precedent (ref: Bush v Gore 2000).
