Quite possibly. We could end up worse off, and nothing is guaranteed. But the time to take risks is when you’re losing. And this particular risk is better taken earlier than later. And running on continuing the Biden record without being Biden might not be so bad.

No disagreement there, though perhaps with democracy on the line and the right (white, male, military?) running mate she could succeed.
My main point is that neither Kamala nor an open convention seem like worse options than Biden today, despite having their own downsides.

As a president I think he’s been great. As for candidate quality, the standard here definitely isn’t perfection. I’d be OK with either Kamala or an open convention, because I now think any other credible Dem candidate would be more likely to win.

As POTUS she could shore up her perceived electoral weaknesses with a solid VP pick (military?) in a way a candidate never could.

It’s about maximizing the chance of beating Trump. Before yesterday, I thought the chaos of an open convention would be worse than unity behind Biden. Today I’m not sure. I’m not worried about him lasting 4 years, that’s what the 25th amendment is for, and personnel is policy.

We know Trump’s not fit for office. Nothing about that is new. This is more of a recognition that Biden might be convinced to do it for the greater good after that performance. Trump thinks his self interest is the greater good—asking him to do something against his own self interest is useless.

If Biden’s family and advisors aren’t talking to him today about stepping aside and facilitating an open convention, they should be.

Cursing the dead is ghoulish unless you are referring to actual ghouls. Henry Kissinger defined that category for the last 60 years and the day has finally come. May you rot in hell.

I’m all for getting enough sleep, but isn’t that precisely the meaning of the word “nap”? Or I guess that’s exactly the joke here.

Well, whatever you do, don't install uBlock Origin, navigate to the "my filters" tab, and add
"www.youtube.com##+js(nano-stb, resolve(1), *, 0.001)"
to it (without the quote marks).
That would be naughty.

This is crazy. We had to sign a “contract” when we adopted our kitties in California that we would NOT let them outside, both for their own health and that of the local bird population. 12 and 8 years later, they’ve thrived indoors.

I don’t get how much Europe tends to look down on American food. Sure, eating too much of it will kill you and it’s not “classy”, but I’d put up fried chicken and waffles against anything in the taste department. Well-made barbecue too, the list goes on.

Thank you British Airways/American for leaving my bag on the wrong side of the Atlantic and issuing me invalid boarding passes that I had to replace for every leg of my flight. And looks like there’s a late-game delay for the third flight!

Bought some prickly pears today because they were on sale. In French, they don’t have the word “prickly” in their name. They tasted good but I spent the next two hours picking cactus hairs out of my hands with tweezers. Gloves next time for sure.
