Australia is finally waking up to post-Covid POTS nightmare.
POTS can be triggered by a viral infection.
"When Covid-19 arrived, the clinic saw more patients than ever before, and Marie-Claire’s PhD research found 80% of patients with long Covid had POTS."

On a ridiculously early flight tomorrow that makes it almost pointless going to bed except I can’t handle an all nighter in a good day, and I’m already exhausted from doing all the things to get ready to leave.

Incredibly important research here because it gives us the chance to make decisions now that lower or eliminate risk. If a landslide happens in Milford Sound and nobody is there to get killed, it's not a natural(?) disaster. This is the kind of thing our science system is for. 🧪

NZ Postgrad Students - is there someone (preferably in NZ) who you've heard speak recently that you'd recommend other postgrad students/ECRs get a chance to listen to?

"WHO confirms first-ever fatal human case of bird flu strain H5N2.
The WHO said the 59-year-old resident of Mexico had died on April 24 after developing a fever, shortness of breath, diarrhoea, nausea and general discomfort."
If "general discomfort" becomes the new "mild flu" I'm going to 🤬🤬🤬

Are you in Aotearoa New Zealand? Do you have 2-3 mins free every Monday to fill in a teeny survey? Please become a Flu Tracker! This scheme is helping ESR scientists track and understand flu & COVID-19 in the community.

We'd love to see large events planning for clean air, masking, and testing/screening so they are safer and #accessible for all. Singing is especially high risk for not just #covid but flu and RSV. The upcoming @WorldChoirGames @WCG2024 involves 11k international singers.
