So frankly this is actually the first barrier that will meed addressing BEFORE they can even think of having a leadership contest. Because right now it would be LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE for more than one candidate to be nominated. I suspect no-one's explained that to Cleverly, Badenoch and Suella yet.

Tell you what though, that’s the first time I’ve stood at the unstaffed reception desk of a hotel for ages before finally ringing the hotel, hearing a long spoken message, then hearing the phone on the desk in front of me ring, and eventually watching someone walk up to it and pick it up.

Strange business. My electoral office sent me an email to tell me a postal vote would be unlikely to make it to Germany and back in time and basically told me to organise a proxy! (But didn’t alert me to the deadline for a postal proxy, hence my mad dash today and tomorrow…)

Then, tomorrow morning, up at sparrow’s fart to get to my polling station in Trimley as close to 7am as possible. Then, if time allows, a cuppa with the current residents of the house I was born in. Then off to LHR for a 4:30pm flight homeward. An ambitious plan, I admit. Stay tuned for updates!
