reading the transcript they are both incoherent. Trump can also just keep coming back to post birth abortion and murderous immigrants which don’t exist whereas presumably we would like Joe to say something more substantive if he could.

At first it felt weird to me, like being a liar is not the most harmful thing about Trump, maybe it’s a component of that harm, the worldview he espouses, power he wields. But maybe it’s accidentally reflective of the fact that the lies are not the point, that the liberals are also lying.

just watched 74 people speaking at least a dozen different languages become american citizens in a ceremony at monticello, where the speakers were themselves children of immigrants. inspiring stuff and a vivid illustration of what reactionaries want to snuff out

Yeah I think that’s probably right, although I appreciate how the advice is delivered to her regardless of what he ultimately needs or does. she has found a way to repair and live a life that doesn’t erode her, and named that the status quo was harm, not peace, seems worth recognizing.
