Had a go-around in Mexico City - pilot didn't say why, but it was fairly obvious. As the wheels touched down we were practically out of runway. Scary stuff!

Was about to say this - if any individual is outed as 'banksy', the group can continue thereby disapproving that individual. Even if spearheaded by someone, it has to be a group effort

Devices to fool automated systems into thinking you're active and present don't exist because people are lazy, they exist because bosses count productivity by minutes not tasks and will punish idle hands for not taking longer.

EZ's an inevitability. Crept in the edges of my awareness through Bastards, snuck in further through bsky, before you know it you can't even watch the void(zilla) without his face popping up. It's no use resisting!

If they even let you know there's a delay. Was waiting for a flight to Marseille via Brussels once. They said it was a 1h delay, but I could see the plane hadn't left the previous airport. No way it could be less than 3-4 hours

One good tactic for dealing with existential despair is find a place where you can do some good. Might be volunteering to help people or animals. Might be seeking an appointment on a local board or running for office. Might be sharing poems on the internet. Pick something at a scale you can manage.

It's also not a zero sum game. Even if you're selfish, it would make your life better! It's never been about the rich wanting more wealth, as much as they want more power. Idealogically us peasants need to stay in our place

The concept of Universal Basic Income isn't about discouraging hard work; it's about ensuring everyone has the fundamental necessities to survive. Our society should not be one where survival is a privilege. It's time we make it a right. Basic income is not charity; it's justice.

Voted in the local elections and can’t shake the feeling of shame and resentment at the photo id requirement. Shame at participating in an evidently cynical attempt to disenfranchise voters under 60 without a valid passport or driving licence. Resentment at the pretence that there was even a problem

Same. Same. I was probably never going to swing right, but I do think at least it's a reminder every cycle about these bellends and their voter suppression. Long may people remember it.

I spent an hour on hold today and had to escalate to a manager to get my broadband and TV bill down from a massive hike. Turns out with that I'm double paying for my subscriptions too. It's possible to track maybe, but the companies intentionally scam you, and it costs time to chase everything

> shrink the distance between their values and their actions That really resonates with me. I'm not young, but I've been desperately trying to work out how to get into making change, and it all seems too big

Most of Cleese's characters were only funny assuming it was a parody. Turns out it wasn't, that's just his character... Same with Linehan. So many 'oh, they were being serious' moments

One thing I know from being a non-traditional student (I got my BA at 36) and now as a professor, today's college students are bright, inquisitive, and compassionate humans who are trying to figure out how to navigate this complex and troubled world they've inherited from us.

As someone paying lots of tax in the UK, I don't begrudge tiered taxes, happy to pay my share for luck and privilege. It does sting to watch it being extracted from the public purse to the wealthy though 😢

Myth: Universal Basic Income is a magnet for the idle. In reality, it's the catalyst for unleashed potential. Visualize a world where your next meal isn't your next worry. That world is one giant leap closer to solving the puzzles of poverty and unleashing collective brilliance.

My favourite case law in the UK relates to this, although slightly tangentially. Donoghue v Stevenson. Mrs Donoghue found a snail in her drink, and it was ruled that the company had a duty of care. Intent didn't come into it - she had the expectation of a product without a snail in it

Quite. Sweden, Canada, etc. it's been proven to work time and time again, the reason states don't adopt it isn't because they don't know it works. Arguably it's precisely because they know it works

When the research is done and it’s shown to work better than anything else the news outlets will profess shock for a day or so, then memory-hole the entire concept AGAIN.
