Watching a Netflix doc on dietary stuff, & as I am prone to remind every so often: You do not need to eat meat to get sufficient protein in your diet. As I heard it put once: "Where do you think the animals we eat get it from? Plants!" I put on 15lbs of muscle last year with zero meat in my diet.

And there’s a great saga to be told about the ultimate battle being between existence and oblivion, rather than good and evil, but that’s not what COIE does. Hickman’s Avengers is much more attuned to that particular wavelength - stealing it for another Secret Wars.

We can’t lose track that Doctor Doom essentially murders god and assumes his throne in the series’ climax, and the monumental nature of that conflict is played entirely straight. He’s a much more compelling omnipotent villain than the goofy blue & yellow robot.

Fall of the House of X #1 certainly wasn’t the worst superhero comic I read this week. But given that it’s title demands a comparison to HoX/PoX, it is far and away the most disappointing. The future of X-Men comics is set to be composed of tropes decades past their use-by date and worse politics.
