“It's easier to argue about what college kids are doing than to confront the human misery and destruction that's happening in the actual conflict which is, of course, the source of these protests.”
When we beg the Left to put pressure on Hamas to agree to a cease fire they just enable them by refusing to say anything but "Israel" and call you a Nazi so it's pretty clear they don't care about the human misery and destruction, just their obsession with hating (((Zionism))).
Says the guy whose program hasn't stopped mustering BIG UPSET energy almost every night to remind us that big orange man bad! Have you even said the word "genocide"?
Not that MSNBC would let an honest coverage happen but only Joy Reid has the juice/willingness to call it a genocide.
Happened to catch this. Excellent segment. Thank you for the moral clarity and for redirecting back to the real issues we need to deal with.
A lot of politicians and other powerful people want to talk about the protestORS, but not about what is being protesTED. It's a misdirection play.
I wonder if Columbia University is celebrating it this year? 🙂
It's now May.
P'haps it would be better for decent, hardworking journalists, dramatists & educators if Columbia was divorced from the Pulitzers this year... given current hypocrisy & whatnot.
Anne Applebaum said kind of the same thing- that the attention shifted from the war in Gaza to the protestors. But she kind of blamed that shift on the protesters who made it about themselves.
Am I proud of these college students and the faculty rallying in solidarity? Yes!
Am I angry about the fascistic response from schools and cops? Yes!
Mostly I’m beyond frustrated because this wall to wall cable panic is obscuring the point of what’s happening on the ground in Gaza.
Grew up in the 60s. I remember the antiwar protests. I remember how it starts with sit-ins and love-ins and occupations and next thing you know it's Kent State and Weather Underground. It's the same energy out there right now. Will it fizzle like Occupy Wall St? We'll find out soon.
I think it is more than that. I think the GOP and its supporters have decided unrest and the protests are good for them. They want to sell Trump as the tough law and order man who will forcefully "restore order." So they are over-demonizing the protests (and probably sending provocateurs.
