I think a lot about a family member who keeps on going on about their therapist encouraging them to cut out things in their life that don't contribute to their positive happiness. I think about that a lot and I wonder if they realize that if others did that, there wouldn't be many around them...

It's cheap and they want to sell it as a way to cut staffing. Don't need more analysts if AI can do all your detection and response work. I'm fighting hard to get them to see it as an efficiency tool at best, i.e. help find data and write draft queries.

In my current leadership/management class at SANS I have some execs as classmates. The specific way in which generative AI has been incorporated into the curriculum - hastily and totally un-rigorously - to assuage their FOMO is astounding.

I was waiting in Sbux this morning and a older dude dressed like a tech exec mentioned AI to the person he was meeting with and said "I don't want us to be left behind." I get it. I'm an idiot tech executive too and that can be a valid fear. But we have full-on herd mentality right now.
