I got my grades back, which means I can officially say goodbye to the semester, and I've gotten a lot of new followers lately, so it seems like a great day to talk about one of my most favorite historical garments of all time: Countess Greffulhe’s tea gown.
Thank you for this great thread! I really appreciate you sharing the pics and so much knowledge! Congrats on the "grades back" and I hope it means you graduated/ completed an amazing degree.
Countess Greffulhe herself was more or less a typical French socialite. Fabulously wealthy, a great beauty of her day, patron of the arts, etc etc. However, where she truly stood apart was in her dress. Her fashion sense was astonishing, even among her contemporaries.
I'm so glad to see you here on bsky Cora! I really missed your threads from twitter.
Could you include alt text on your gorgeous images? It would be great for everyone to enjoy the pictures
I learned about this dress earlier this week when I saw people discussing the fact artwork from a @paizo.bsky.social game has a character wearing a dress inspired by this.
What a beautiful dress, thank you for sharing! I am getting peacock vibes from the pattern, certainly not a dress one could be missed in.
Additionally, I'm so happy to see you posting over here, I missed seeing your threads.
