Our study of using wearables to implement pacing & reduce symptom burden in #LongCOVID & other IACCs has almost completed recruitment.

There are only 84 Garmin devices remaining.

We are especially looking for BIPOC participants, who are currently underrepresented.

Yes, it's unhelpful to read papers that conclude that LC can "last up to" 2, 3, 4 years, depending on when they were written.

When 50-60% overlap with #ME/CFS diagnosis it should be recognised that most have that condition for the rest of their lives. SARS1 survivors still affected 20 years on.

An interesting paper, passively transferring total IgG from Long COVID patients to mice, induced phenotypes in mice similar to the patient cohort they were derived from.

This could be a game changer- am antibiotic been developed that selectively targets some gram negative species like C. difficile whilst leaving microbes in microbiome alone- been tested in vitro and in mice. Targets a vital process in these bacteria.🤞 for development as drug that works in humans. 🧪

As one of the "missing millions" with LongCovid it's sad to see today's UKGov stats. In Mar2024 2 million had LC, a slight increase on Mar2023.

Some of us are getting better, but many are not, and this data shows new members keep joining this unhappy club 💔

I think here the authors do actually mean "somatic" and not "psychosomatic". I.e. biological. I'm judging from their follow-on list of proposed causes. But "psychosomatic" is often abbrev to "somatic", hence "somatic symptom disorder" instead of "psychosomatic disorder" 🙃

The study flowchart (fig 1) shows that 7/34 (20.6%) of #LongCovid dropped out after initial physiological characterisation, which also included exercise tests (CPET, 6MWT, leg extension etc). Vs 4/36 (11.1%) of controls.

Study only reports results after 1st (but really *2nd*) exercise challenge.

The Long Covid expert group cited by ministers as evidence of the Government’s support for patients was actually disestablished two years ago – the Ministry of Health has now apologised to ministers for misinforming them.
