Qualified Immunity is terrible and should be done away with, but I don’t follow the argument based on costs to taxpayers. Eliminating QI would directly make municipalities liable for more misconduct, not less. That’s good-we should compensate victims of govt. misconduct and deter abuse. [1/2]

Just get rid of qualified immunity! Then, Just fire those bad few officers, have a trial, convict them for their misdeeds! Then take the officers homes, auction them off to pay for their misdeeds!

It's misconduct, not QI. If anything, QI made the number lower because surely there was more misconduct that was immunized by QI.
