Well, Dave, how can you convince your readers that you are an important insider/player with access to the "room where it happens" unless you have a long throat-clearing buildup stuffed with quasi humblebrags?
This is why I stopped watching Rachel Maddow. For even the smallest gobbet of news you had to sit through ten minutes of "In 1867 a young congressman named James Garfield ..."
It’s my biggest pet peeve right now—news written like a feature. News wants to be written like news. Invert that pyramid, people, dont pervert it. #stopthepervertedpyramid
