Ugh, yes, this. My mom's closest friend died of AIDS when I was maybe 8, so it had this kind of quiet tangibility in our house. Homophobia in the media just really made an absolutely horrible event so, so much worse.

Hugs and ughhh. When I fell into magic at the age of 40 and had to unpack why pentagrams made me so uneasy. It was a lightbulb moment when I realized it was all the satanic panic stuff. It was almost invisible as a kid, but super pervasive.

If you know me, you know I really care about research and these novels are exceptional. But they also navigate the more adult themes of many of these stories beautifully and honestly for young audiences. 'Apollo' is a great book for pride month especially. 🏳️‍🌈

I had such a great time talking with @wolvendamien.bsky.social at our campus's AI symposium yesterday. Faculty and staff shared many common concerns and I started feeling hopeful. Then the CIO for campus IT presented. Now I'm panic-shopping for private devices.
